BEAUTY TIPS: NAIL POLISH PRESERVATION

So for the past few months I have been obsessing over my nails and the colours that I use. When I was younger I'll admit that I was a nail biting fiend and it wasn't until the beginning of this year that I actually started to take care of my nails... properly.

The nail polishes I have been using have all been from Revlon apart from my base coat - Sally Hansen's Hard On Nails which I must say is my holy grail base coat at the moment. Unlike my mother, whom I envy for having such strong nails, I have (well I did have) incredibly weak nails - and when I say weak, I mean they were always breaking if I did allow them to grow which I have been doing for the past 8 or so months. But using Sally Hansen's Hard on Nails has hardened my nails as well as thickened them. With a fast drying time, it also allows the nail polish colour to glide on extremely well.

The colours I have been loving this month are all from Revlon, with the exception of one from Barry M.
Revlon:
Fashionista 471
Vixen 570
Charming 211
Urban 490 (I use this one because it makes me feel like Hazel from The Fault In Our Stars)
Plum Seduction 097

Barry M:
Gelly Hi-Shine in Coconut

There isn't much to say about the colours I use except that they leave your nails looking glossy even without a top coat. But I still recommend you use one to seal everything.

As for top coat, I recommend using Revlon's Quick Dry Top Coat. Do not mistake Revlon's Liquid Quick Dry for the one I have been using and am referring to. The Liquid Quick Dry leaves your nails feeling oily and makes your nail polish and the work you have just done look like shit. The Quick Dry Top Coat however, is a God-send.

BUT WAIT! MY NAIL POLISH GOES GLOOPY AFTER JUST A FEW WEEKS!

Now, I am not blaming London's gorgeous weather for the deterioration in my polish.. well, actually I am. The heat we have been exposed to these past few weeks activates the nail formula's solvents which ultimately gives it a thick and gloopy consistency. Lacquer requires a certain method to store and maintain, as well as apply. This might sound strange but I have begun placing my polishes in a tub and storing it in the fridge... Don't believe me? Check it out.

Not only does it make the nail polish feel good when applying it on your nails (temperature wise), it also applies a lot smoother than before. And, it will last much longer!

You can also leave perfume and eye cream in the fridge. It might take up some space but I reckon it's a risk willing to take if it means your products will last.
