FAREWELL 2014

I can't believe another year has gone by. 2014 for me had its best and worst memories of my life. Let's just say it's a year that I won't forget.

I've experienced so many new things this year, some that I'll remember for the rest of my life and some I see as life lessons.

- New relationships. Nothing else can be said here really. Only to keep in mind that for something to work, you both have put in 50% effort.

- I attended my first (of many) The 1975 concerts with one of my best friends in the entire world in January. An amazing band that has helped me grow as a person and inspired me to never give up. (Cheesy but true.)

- My first (proper) job! I've gained skills and learned so much more from the past 2 months about the real world and myself than I did this time last year.

- I went to Amsterdam! My best friend and I had talked about going ever since we saw The Fault In Our Stars but I never thought we'd actually go in the same year, let alone just a few months after the movies' release! I saw so many beautiful things, from the Anne Frank House to taking a trip along the canals to getting a tattoo to commemorate the trip and further developed a strong bond and friendship with someone I know will be in my life for a very long time.

- I'm started my final year at uni. I am absolutely scared shitless about what's to come after this year is over (and I haven't got long left!) but I'm excited to see where my degree takes me.

- I celebrated my 21st birthday in October with some of my closest friends and family - and I got my 13th tattoo. I remember thinking as a kid how I couldn't wait to be 21 and although I would be lying if I said I exceeded my expectations of what life would be like, I wouldn't change a thing about my 21st year on this earth.

The experiences I've gained have shaped my life this year and I know for a fact they'll stay with me and help me grow in the future.

Main things I've learned this past year:
- Don't give a shit what anyone else thinks of you. Go at your own pace and you will achieve what you want to accomplish.
- Live in the moment instead of trying to capture those moments on video and in pictures. Every concert/city I've been to, I've made a conscious effort not to document my adventures as much as I used to, but to instead soak in the atmosphere and enjoy what's right in front of me. Whilst it's great to have those pictures and videos to look back on, you can't recreate how you felt.
- Seize every opportunity you have. Even if you don't enjoy something, at least you've gained experience and the skills you need to get into something you'll love.
- Cherish those around you.

Don't see 2015 as an upcoming year, but as 365 days worth of memories yet to be made.

Here's to the next 365 days. Make them count.

MYCOSMETICLENSES: GREEN CONTACT LENSES* REVIEW

So the team over at MyCosmeticLenses kindly sent me a package with a set of green contact lenses.

I tried taking photos of my eyes with my iPhone 6 but I just couldn't get the sharpness of a proper camera so, I took to the official mycosmeticlenses website and found the colours that matched (perfectly I might add!) the colour of my eyes before and after I inserted the contact lenses.

I'm not usually one for changing anything besides my hair colour, my nail colour and my style - which changes constantly, but I decided to try out Marnie's new contact lenses to see what it was like to actually have the eye colour I've always wanted!

Packaging:
The contact lenses arrived within one day of shipping and were packaged to perfection! Inside the package was a bottle of sterile saline solution (to clean the contact lenses), a contact lenses case, some instructions on how to clean and take care of them and a box containing the contact lenses (obviously).

Colour:

After struggling (but eventually succeeding) to stick the contact lenses in my eyeballs, I couldn't believe how amazing the colour was. The company definitely doesn't lie when they say that they look natural. They created a dramatic difference between my natural eye colour and the contact colour but, I could still see a hint of brown, which was perfect for me! As soon as my mum got home from, she noticed something was different about me but she couldn't pinpoint it. I pointed it out to her and she couldn't believe how natural and gorgeous they looked! (Not going to lie, I wish my eyes were naturally green - I was upset when I had to take the contact lenses out.)

Wear:
The only thing I'm going to disagree with the company on is that they're easy to put in. If you're someone like me who has never worn contact lenses before, using these coloured contacts might be a struggle for you. But with a little perseverance and patience, you'll have gorgeous eyes in no time! Of course after I managed to get them in, my eyes were a little sore and red but this irritation went away as the day went on.

Insertion:
Like I said, I struggled putting the contacts in, but just do what I did and YouTube videos on putting in contact lenses... There's thousands out there!

Overall, I am incredibly happy with the contact lenses. The colour is amazing, the range of colours is mind blowing - there's a huge selection to choose from and it's a fun way to spruce up your look if you're looking for a short term change (and by short term, I mean 8 hours a day).
I'll definitely be purchasing more contact lenses in the future. I couldn't be happier with the outcome!

Marnie's contact lenses are available exclusively at:

MARNIE SIMPSON CONTACT LENSES

The ever so beautiful Marnie Simpson of MTV's Geordie Shore fame, has switched up her eye colour with her new range of coloured contact lenses!

The Geordie lass entered the Geordie Shore house in the middle of series 7 and has since become a viewer favourite. Being an avid wearer of contact lenses on the show, Marnie has put together a range of contact lenses that are easy to apply and make you feel like a new person!

Marnie wearing the 'Pure Blue' contact lenses

Marnie Simpson has partnered with MyCosmeticLenses, a company that sells non-prescription "plano" fashion coloured contact lenses. You should know however that they do not do anything towards improving your sight, they are simply a fashion accessory (and an amazing one at that!) and they're of the highest quality and are EC certified! Although the company has only been up and running for 6 months, they've become increasingly popular. Prices on the company's lenses start from just £12.99 with FREE post and packaging and with a life span of 1 year (from the first wear), this is a total bargain!

Of course, there has always been a gap in the market for contact lenses, especially those which look natural and are comfortable to wear. These contact lenses are completely different to those we see in stores and online now!

With a high water content of 42%, Marnie's coloured contact lenses are extremely comfortable to put in and take out, always hydrating the eyes. What Marnie specifically wanted for these contact lenses was for them to look as natural as possible. You can often find her wearing the contact lenses on the show (airs every Tuesday night at 10pm) and she looks absolutely stunning!

I can't wait to try out these lenses!

Marnie's contact lenses are available exclusively at:

BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK

I seriously deserve a smack on the hand. I can't believe I haven't posted in almost a month! But I'm back with a new OOTD! And seriously, the amount of colour in this outfit amazes me.

The other day, I ordered a pair of creepers from ASOS (£18... BARGAIN!) and since they arrived, I haven't taken them off! They're so comfortable! They are a little big even though I bought my actual shoe size but it's nothing a pair of insoles can't fix. The majority of my outfit is from Topshop (shocker!)

SHOES (can't find the ones in black but here they are in grey)
BAG (from H&M - no longer available on the website!)

AMSTERDAM PHOTO DIARY

If you're ever in Amsterdam, go to Bagels & Beans. They have the BEST bagels in town! So fresh, tasty and huge!! Our favourite was the Sesame chive cream cheese with avocado and tomato.

(Meerkat Elvis's made me chuckle!)

The Anne Frank House was the best part of the trip. It was absolutely heartbreaking but the layout was stunning!

If you're a fan of The Fault In Our Stars, you'd recognise this hotel.... Obviously this isn't the reason we went to Amsterdam though... ;)

The infamous bench used in The Fault In Our Stars. No big deal...

THE UNIVERSITY POST

(Just a little note before I start, this post is going to be long, there's no images, just me ranting - grab a cuppa and I hope you enjoy)

I'm just starting my third year at university - studying English Literature. Going into my second week, I accepted that there would be A LOT of work that would start piling up and don't get me wrong, I can handle it. But there are some situations that I can't deal with.

I have social anxiety so some tasks that are given seem impossible for me. Like today; in one of my English optional courses, I ended up leaving an hour before the end of the seminar purely because I was absolutely terrified of having to work with people that I don't know (and frankly, a lot of the people in my lectures aren't all that nice). It got to the point where I thought "are they going to be secretly judging me?" "What if I say something wrong?" All of these questions were going round in my head. As a result of this, I ended up coming home.

Back in 2012 when I first started uni, I had all of these expectations - imagine a film that focuses on a university in America (Legally Blonde, So Undercover... I can't think of anymore) but I expected it to be like that - late night partying, the British equivalent of sororities and fraternities, instantly making new friends that I would supposedly have for the rest of my life... But so far, none of this has happened.

Now they were right with one thing: university is a helluva lot harder than college, mentally and emotionally. You're constantly surrounded by people in your lectures and seminars that are evidently smarter than you (N: talking from my own experience) and they know it too; which is I hardly ever raise my hand to answer anything in seminars.

The work schedule is gruelling. This year I've been quite lucky and only have to go in 3 days a week. But that doesn't mean that the work load has gone down. I'm already planning projects, presentations (which is stressing me out even more because I HATE talking in front of people) and essays - their word counts have up to over 3500 words in each! So yeah, I think it's safe to say I'm stressed already.

I could go on all day about what I don't like about university life but all I really want for you to get out of this post is to just think about the reason you're planning on going to university. I, for one was pretty much pressured into going to university. All of my friends were applying, my teachers looked down on me when I mentioned to them that I wasn't thinking of applying so in the end, I almost felt obliged to actually apply. I just can't wait for this year to be over so I can go to work full-time.

Don't feel pressured into going to university just because of your friends, teachers and even your parents. No one can write your life for you. Only you can do that. Follow the path that you want to walk down. The best road, is the one you choose.

NEW APP: MALLZEE

If you're a big fan of Depop or The Hunt, there's a new and improved app on the App Store that you will most definitely be drawn towards. Mallzee is a personal shopping experience that enables you to shop effortlessly and without leaving the comfort of your bed! I mean, what could be better than that?!

A great aspect of the app is being able to personalise your 'style feeds', tailoring to your own style and tastes. The app has everything from beachwear to workwear and varies from high street to high end. Bags, belts, dresses, suits, jackets, hats, accessories, tops, jeans. You name it. The app caters to your every fashion need.

What's great (but also could possibly make me extremely broke) is that you can use this app on the go - whether that be on your way to school, work, university or maybe if you're just out and about running errands.

What I love most about the app is that my favourite brands are featured! Stores such as Forever 21, Topshop, Miss Selfridge and ASOS are easily accessed with Mallzee. And if you're like me and get quite annoyed and impatient when signing up for the new things, Mallzee offers a no pain in the arse sign up page that requires you to fill in only your full name, email and a password.

I am obsessed with this app!

STAPLE: THE DENIM JACKET

Hallelujah! My denim jacket came in the post yesterday! I ordered this gorgeous vintage jacket from Pop Boutique via ASOS and I'm not gonna lie, I was worried that it either wouldn't fit or it just wouldn't suit me... Luckily I was wrong!

Now first of all, let me apologise for the quality of these photos. With my mum being at work, I had to ask my sister to take my photos for me. Let's just say she isn't as good a photographer as my mum.

Today, I had an opticians appointments (and I've ordered my new Gok Wan glasses!!) and I wanted to mix my style up a bit.
I paired my denim jacket with a white rolled sleeve t-shirt from Topman (gotta love them), my black Joni jeans from Topshop and yet again, my leopard print Vans. They kill but I've gotta wear them in somehow. It pays to look good. I just used my New Look backpack - as usual and wore my Casio watch from American Apparel.

What's great about this jacket is that it keeps you warm on cooler days (as it was this morning) but also keeps you cool as the day gets warmer. With it being oversized, you won't struggle to layer your pieces together. I'm planning on wearing it during my trip to Amsterdam in October. I paid £36 (it was originally £40 but I got 10% student discount) and I've got to say, I think this is a staple piece in my wardrobe that I'll wear for a while! I'm so happy with my purchase. Thanks again ASOS!

#LFW SPIRIT

I am totally gutted that I didn't get to go to London Fashion Week this year! I've been longing to go for so long but I just haven't had the time!

But with it being one of the last days of LFW, I thought I'd dress as if I were attending.. Well, this isn't entirely what I'd wear but something along these lines. I was there in spirit.

On top, I wore my favourite t-shirt at the moment, which of course is my 'We Built This City On Bacon Rolls' t-shirt from The Breakfast Club. I'm obsessed!

With my t-shirt, I wore my favourite boyfriend jeans from Topshop (I mean, where else would I buy them from!?!) and my new leopard print Vans that are still killing my feet! Can someone please give me some tips on how I can wear them in quickly?!

As I knew I'd be out all day with the family, I decided that it was best to take a hoody with me. I've been loving my new grey kangaroo hoody from Topman. The inside is incredibly soft; it literally feels like I've wrapped myself in a blanket! I bought it in a size medium as I wanted it to be a little oversized. And of course, oversized clothing has become popular on the catwalks this year.

I thought I'd also show you what I've been wearing on my nails lately as I've been in love with the colour that my sister picked out. For the past few months I've been looking after my nails and I'm pretty proud of how far I've come. If you knew me in high school, you would know that my nails were non-existent. I'm ashamed to say that I had bitten my nails to merely thin lines... It's stress I tell you! The colour of the polish is Peach Pie by Maybelline and after applying my base coat, two coats and my top coat, my nails look gorgeous, if I do say so myself.

But anyway, even though I wasn't actually at London Fashion Week this year (sad face), I wanted to go for a look today that was similar to the looks that were seen on the runway. Obviously my outfit is no way near as beautiful and intricate as some outfits that we've seen this year but can I just say, I bloody love today's look. I was so comfortable!
